Treatment Methods for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, April 29, 1991
Professor Wang Weichuan from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is renowned for his expertise in treating systemic lupus erythematosus. He asserts that there are three indispensable medications for this condition: two centipedes, 9 g of black snake, and 60 g of purple herb. These three herbs are the “powerful generals” in treating lupus—centipedes and snakes dispel wind, which refers to the reaction of antigen-antibody complexes, while purple herb promotes blood circulation and clears rashes, thus addressing wind by first activating blood flow. Professor Wang attributes the onset of the disease to wind patterns, as the exact pathogen remains unclear. Given its ability to invade every system in the body, in addition to the three main symptoms—fever, joint pain, and elevated ESR—it can also affect organs containing connective tissue throughout the body, such as the heart, liver, kidneys, spleen, and lungs. Particularly vulnerable are serous membranes like the pericardium, pleura, peritoneum, and joint cavities, which may accumulate fluid. Some speculate that the disease is caused by a virus. In his lupus treatments, Professor Wang frequently adds ingredients like Baihua She She Cao, Ban Zhi Lian, and Pu Gong Ying, claiming they yield remarkable results.
