Lianqiao Tang for Treating Hematuria, June 12, 1991
Japanese scholar Matsumoto Kazuo reported that using the Lianqiao formula from “Yiguantang Medicine” to treat hematuria yields remarkable results. The formula consists of: Dang Gui, Bai Shao, Chuan Xiong, Sheng Di Huang, Chaihu, Zhike, Jiegeng, Gancao, Huang Lian, Huang Qin, Huang Bo, Shan Zhi Zi, Jingjie, Lianqiao, and Bohe. This formula is applicable when urine is generally dark purple, pulse is tight, and lower abdominal muscles are tense. The composition of this formula combines blood activation and stasis removal with clearing heat and detoxification, similar to the Shanxi Taiyuan Yishen Tang. In the future, more efforts should be made along these lines to create new formulas with significant therapeutic effects. (Clinical Practice of Kampo, 1990.2)
