Chaihu Preparations Have Cortisol-Like Effects, June 10, 1991

Japanese Kampo scholars generally believe that all Chaihu preparations have varying degrees of cortisol-like effects, with Chailin Tang having the most pronounced impact. Chailin Tang combines Xiaochaihu Tang with Wuling San and was specifically designed in “Zhu Bing Yuan Liu Xi Zhu” for Yangming malaria. According to Japanese scholar Mukai Masano, this formula is effective against systemic lupus erythematosus, reducing hormone usage. He even used it to treat a case of SLE accompanied by thrombocytopenic purpura, quickly restoring platelet counts. (Foreign Medical Dynamics, 1991.1)
