Treatment of Epilepsy, March 4, 1992

In the past, I treated epilepsy using Sheng Tie Luo Yin, Huang He Teng Tian Sheng Da Chan, and Zhang’s Ding Dian Bing. Later, I tried Zhao Xinbo’s Three Insects, Tao Hong, Tianma, Sheng Di Huang, and Gou Teng Tang. In recent years, reviewing the past ten years of the Chinese Journal of Traditional Medicine, I found that prescriptions for treating epilepsy include Chai Hu Gui Zhi Tang, Yue Ju Wan, Wen Dan Tang, and one particularly noteworthy formula: “Three Days of Qi Zheng, Tiger, Clove, Huang Lian, Ice Spike, White Gold Storage, and Cinnabar Precious Rice with Realgar.” This formula is called “Xiong Huang Ting Epilepsy Pill,” a water pill, with each dose being 5 g.
