A Discovery Regarding Ascites in Liver Cirrhosis, December 7, 1992

I have already developed a method for treating this condition. Recently, a patient with advanced liver cirrhosis brought this formula, claiming it eliminated fluid accumulation like magic. Upon examination, I found it to be my own diuretic formula: 10 g of Beishashen, 10 g of Maidong, 6 g of Yuzhu, 10 g of Shihu, 10 g of Gou Qi Zi, 10 g of Nü Zhen Zi, 12 g of Fu Ling, 12 g of Zhu Ling, 10 g of Ze Xie, 10 g of Bai Zhu, 10 g of Gui Zhi, 10 g of Chai Hu, 10 g of Huang Qin, 10 g of Ban Xia, 10 g of Che Qian Zi, 12 g of Sheng Di Huang, 10 g of Dang Gui, 15 g of He Shou Wu, 15 g of Bie Jia, 15 g of Oysters, 3 g of Hong Hua, and 10 g of Chuan Lian Zi. Decocted in water and taken orally. This formula is consistent with Guan Zhong Jian, as described in “Liuzhou Yi Hua,” with the addition of Chai Ling Tang to enhance its diuretic effect. It also has hormonal benefits.
