Centipede-Based Treatment for Erectile Dysfunction, August 18, 1993

As previously mentioned, leeches have therapeutic effects on erectile dysfunction. Now, centipedes are also effective in treating this condition, with a formula called “Anti-Erectile Dysfunction Spirit”: 60 g of angelica sinensis, 60 g of white peony, 60 g of licorice, and 18 g of centipede, all ground into a fine powder and divided into 40 packets, with one packet taken on an empty stomach and washed down with yellow wine. Dr. Chen Yumei has used this formula to treat 737 cases of erectile dysfunction, achieving a cure rate of over 88% in six months. Previously, I saw an article in the “Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine” stating that 10 g of angelica sinensis, 10 g of white peony, 6 g of licorice, and 6 g of leeches could effectively treat erectile dysfunction, claiming that leeches alone could promote sperm production and activity. Are centipedes and leeches equally important in these two formulas, and do they complement each other in terms of efficacy? Could combining the two enhance their therapeutic effects?
