Traditionally used to dispel wind-phlegm, relieve acute spasms, improve blood circulation, and treat stroke. Some also use it externally for epidemic parotitis and eczema, with good results. Li Jingci from Shaanxi Province used this product in combination with “Tou Tong Ning” to treat 14 cases of trigeminal neuralgia, recently achieving 1 complete cure, 3 marked improvements, 9 effective cases, and 1 ineffective case. Tou Tong Ning consists of: 30 g of Di Long, 30 g of Huang Qi, 30 g of Dang Gui, 15 g of Xi Xin, and 30 g of Chuan Xiong. All ingredients are finely ground, mixed with honey to form pills, taken with warm water, with a 30-day course of treatment. This demonstrates the effectiveness of this drug in treating neuralgia.
