Treatment of Respiratory Tract Infections, March 11, 1995
Severe upper respiratory tract infections are often accompanied by wheezing, copious purulent sputum, and low-grade fever. At this point, antibiotics should be heavily used, since the lungs belong to the metal element and are most easily overcome by fire. Subsequently, formulas such as Su Xing, Ma Xing Gan Shi, Ting Li Da Zao, Xie Bai San, and Sang Ju Yin can all show effectiveness! Using antibiotics alone without traditional Chinese medicine can only reduce fever and clear phlegm, but it is ineffective against reactive cough, chest tightness, and wheezing.
