Treatment of Large Arteritis with Huiyang Sanjian Tang, March 13, 1995
Angelica sinensis 10 g, white peony 15 g, Chuanxiong 10 g, Atractylodes lancea 6 g, Magnolia officinalis 6 g, Citrus reticulata peel 6 g, licorice 6 g, chicken blood vine 20 g, salvia miltiorrhiza 20 g, Fuzi 30 g (decocted for 40 minutes first), Poria cocos 12 g, Atractylodes macrocephala 12 g, goji berries 10 g, agarwood 3 g, and Angelica pubescens 10 g. The amounts of angelica, white peony, and salvia can be gradually increased to 50–60 g, while Fuzi should be used in larger quantities, decocted for 40 minutes first to remove its toxicity. This formula was originally reported by Gai Yaochang in the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Issue 3, 1980), and I have confirmed its effectiveness through numerous practical applications. It is effective for occlusive vasculitis and thrombophlebitis. Based on this, I specially composed a mnemonic: Four flat chicken blood vine, true goji, fragrant incense—only one Angelica pubescens is boiled together.
