Exploration of the Origins of Three Formulas for Pulseless Syndrome, March 13, 1995

Case one was cured with Gui Fu Ba Wei He Sheng Mai San, Fu Zi Li Zhong, Zeng Ye, peach kernel, and safflower—eight pulses increased, with peach kernel and safflower added to Li Zhong. Case two was cured with peach kernel, four substances, four ginsengs, winter herbs, and fragrant incense—four ginsengs being Dang Shen, Dan Shen, Ren Shen Xu, and Tai Zi Shen, and winter herbs being Mai Dong. Case three was cured with Bao Yuan, Xi Xin, safflower, peony, and Fuzi—Bao Yuan, Xi Xin, safflower, peony, and Fuzi. True refers to Zhen Wu Tang. The principles behind all three cases did not deviate from strengthening yang, nourishing yin, tonifying qi and blood, and clearing heat and detoxifying. For treating this disease, one can also primarily use Huiyang San Jian Tang, adding peach kernel and safflower—Huiyang San Jian Tang’s “three builds” refer to qi, yin, and yang, and adding peach kernel and safflower adds the function of activating blood circulation, which seems to align with the above principles!
