Ms. Du, 60 years old, has had diabetes for three years, initially experiencing numbness in both feet, followed by calf cramps, weakness in the lower limbs, loss of pain sensation, diminished deep tendon reflexes, and a weak, thready pulse.

Prescription: Rehmannia 15 g, Cornus officinalis 15 g, Chinese yam 50 g, angelica 20 g, astragalus 30 g, plum 15 g, radix paeoniae rubra 20 g, ophiopogon 15 g, salvia miltiorrhiza 15 g, chicken blood vine 15 g, sea wind vine 15 g, climbing ivy 15 g, hook vine 15 g. Decocted in water, one dose daily.

After two months of medication, the weakness in the lower limbs gradually improved, walking returned to normal, and reflexes recovered.

Mnemonic: Six yellow, six red, plum blossom, heaven, four vines—this formula combines the Six Yellow Decoction with the Astragalus Blood-Tonifying Decoction, along with ling, dan, mei, hua, tian, and four vines.
