Treatment of Qi Deficiency Leading to Collapse on August 16, 1995
Also known as "collapse of vital energy," Mr. Zhang Xichun’s Sheng Xian Tang has proven highly effective in treating this condition. The composition of this soup is: Astragalus 20g, Cimicifuga 6g, Bupleurum 10g, Anemarrhena 10g, Platycodon 20g. It is boiled and taken once daily. This formula is derived from Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang, with astragalus, bupleurum, and cimicifuga forming the core, and platycodon acting as a boat to carry the medicine upward. It’s important to note that the intention is to nourish yin and replenish fluids, so food must come first. What exactly is "collapse of vital energy"? According to Xichun, "It’s characterized by chest tightness, shortness of breath, dizziness, and a feeling of being about to faint!" In my experience, this is low blood pressure. When blood pressure is low, all organs are at risk of ischemia; coronary ischemia leads to chest pain, and pulmonary artery ischemia often causes shortness of breath. My experience shows that combining Gui Pi Tang with Sheng Mai San works well. Based on this, I created the "Gui Pi Guan Sheng Mai, Qing Long Po Di Shui" formula, which represents an even further step.
