Research on Dried Lacquer—September 18, 1995
It is the dried resin of deciduous trees in the Anacardiaceae family, brown-black in color, producing black smoke when burned, with a lacquer-like odor. It is mainly produced in Hubei, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangdong, and other regions, with distribution also in Japan and Myanmar. It is slightly toxic, enters the liver meridian, removes blood stasis, breaks up masses, and kills parasites. According to "Ben Cao Jing," "This medicine kills three kinds of parasites and eliminates necrotic tissue." Zhang Yuan Su said, "It removes long-standing, hardened stagnation and breaks up long-term, congealed blood stasis." These words fully describe the uses of dried lacquer! Those without blood stasis should avoid it, and those with stomach pain should also avoid it.
