Case Study of Compound Seven-Flavor White Atractylodes Powder—September 18, 1995

During the Mid-Autumn Festival in the Year of Yi Hai, a patient in the ward had submandibular gland cancer with metastases to both lungs and bones. After chemotherapy, his general condition improved, but he later developed aphasia, and no medication worked. I then prescribed a formula: Chaihu, Zhishi, Bai Shao, Gan Cao, Da Huang, Chan Tui, Jiang Huang, Jiang Can, Jin Yin Hua, Lian Qiao, Mu Hu Die, He Zi, Pang Da Hai, Yu Jin, and Alum. One dose showed effectiveness, and after two doses, his voice returned to normal. Later, he developed diarrhea and persistent high fever, so I added seven-flavor white atractylodes powder combined with Sheng Shi Gao and Che Qian Zi, reducing the fever with one dose. I then added purslane, kushen, and artemisia to the formula, and after three doses, the fever subsided and the diarrhea stopped.
