Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment for Multiple Radiculitis—November 10, 1995
During the autumn of the Year of the Water Pig, I consecutively treated three such patients. Case one involved drooping of the left scapula and weakness in the left hip; case two presented with weakness in the back of the neck and inability to support the waist; case three suffered from leg weakness and difficulty walking. Initially, I thought it was myasthenia gravis, but after repeated examinations and review of literature, I concluded it was multiple radiculitis. There are three main treatment approaches for this condition:
① Modified Feng Yin Tang: Seven stones and three pairs of herbs (raw gypsum, cold water stone, purple quartz, white quartz, raw dragon bone, oyster shell, red clay, talc, cinnamon twig, rhubarb, dried ginger, achyranthes, papaya, qin jiao, weiling xian, rehmannia, angelica).
② Zhao’s Formula: Peach blossom four substances, Qin Chuan cattle, two insects, cypress, melon vine, stretching tendon grass, urgent wind-dispelling two dragons, slow-time mulberry branch, black snake vine (angelica, red peony, chuan xiong, rehmannia, peach kernel, safflower, qin jiao, continued break, chuan cattle knee, whole scorpion, centipede, side cypress leaf, papaya, stretching tendon grass, earthworm, dragon bone, southern star, mulberry branch, chicken blood vine).
③ Zhen Wei Tang: Codonopsis, white atractylodes, astragalus, zhimu, ginger, processed frankincense, myrrh, cornelian cherry, longan meat, raw dragon bone, oyster shell, achyranthes, weiling xian.
