Karnofsky Performance Status Score—December 14, 1995

This is a scoring system for assessing the physical condition of cancer patients. Those in perfect health with no discomfort receive 100 points; those with minor symptoms but able to work and carry out normal activities receive 90 points; those barely able to work with obvious symptoms receive 80 points; those capable of self-care receive 70 points; those mostly capable of self-care receive 60 points; those unable to care for themselves receive 50 points; those completely unable to care for themselves receive 40 points; those severely unable to care for themselves receive 30 points; those critically ill receive 20 points; those in critical condition receive 10 points; and those who have died receive 0 points.
