Relationship Between Blood Lipids and Coronary Heart Disease—December 7, 1995
The standard lipid profile consists of three components: TC (total cholesterol), TG (triglycerides), and HDL (high-density lipoprotein). Normal ranges are: TC: 2.8–6.0 mmol/L; TG: 0.45–1.36 mmol/L; HDL: 0.14–0.18 mmol/L. It is well known that TC is positively correlated with coronary heart disease and coronary artery lesions, but the relationship between TG and coronary artery lesions remains controversial. According to a report in the "Chinese Journal of Internal Medicine" (Issue 5, 1995) from Hunan Medical University, 78 cases of coronary angiography demonstrated a positive correlation between coronary lesions and TG, and a negative correlation with HDL.
