Arachnoiditis January 1, 1996

During the winter of the Year of the Pig, I was invited to Baiyin to consult on General Manager Cai Zimin’s case. At the time, he had been suffering from headaches for three months, accompanied by neck stiffness and low-grade fever. His headaches worsened with coughing and sneezing. Previous treatments for neuralgia and cervical syndrome had proven ineffective. I diagnosed him with "arachnoiditis" and administered intravenous infusions of mannitol, dexamethasone, and ceftriaxone, along with traditional Chinese herbal decoctions including shijue ming, bai zili, sheng dihuang, gouqi zi, sang ye, ju hua, dan pi, shan zhi, tian ma, gou teng, ban xia, chen pi, chuan xiong, bai zhi, xi xin, huang qin, cang er zi, dang gui, mai dong, gan cao, qiang huo, and fang feng. After ten doses, significant improvement was observed.
