Treatment of Gout March 25, 1996
Gout arises from urate crystal deposition, causing joint pain, redness, swelling, and enlargement throughout the body. During acute attacks, colchicine and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are the first-line treatments, both equally effective, though the latter is preferred due to fewer side effects. In such cases, uricosuric agents like probenecid, benzbromarone, benzbromazol, and allopurinol should be used cautiously. Hormones may be employed when pain is severe. In addition to the previously mentioned "Cang Shu Huang Bai Du Ji Dou, Wan Gua Chou Han Tu Dan Hu," there is another formula: Qiang Fang Zhi Dong, Tao Lan Ru Xue (Qiang Huo, Fang Feng, Zhi Mu, Ren Dong, Tao Ren, Ze Lan, Zhu Ru, Xue Jie).
