Guanxin Ning Instant Powder, September 30, 1996
I once suffered from chronic pancreatitis and was cured by modifying Chaihu Shugan Tang. In the Yihai year, I began to suffer from coronary heart disease. Initially, Western medicine—injecting salvia and administering low-molecular-weight dextran intravenously—did not work. ECG showed extensive insufficient blood supply to the coronary arteries, so I went to Beijing 301 Hospital, where they said interventional treatment was necessary to turn the situation around. I decided to try traditional Chinese medicine instead, formulating a prescription: 10 g gualou, 10 g xiebai, 6 g banxia, 10 g red peony root, 10 g chuanxiong, 6 g saffron, 10 g agarwood, 20 g salvia, 15 g han sanqi, 20 g leeches, 10 g codonopsis, 10 g ophiopogon, 6 g schisandra, totaling 11 herbs ground into powder, sieved, and mixed with sanqi and leeches to make an instant powder. Each packet weighs about 12 g, taken three times daily—morning, noon, and evening—after meals, dissolved in warm water. Key points: large amount of sanqi, large amount of leeches. This medicine works well in conjunction with Kuangxiong Wan; after six months of taking it, chest pain and shortness of breath completely disappear, and the ECG shows that the insufficient blood supply no longer exists.
