Cholinergic Nerve Blocker Treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis, October 15, 1996
Ningbo Third Hospital, noting that this drug improves microcirculation, has tried it for rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. The treatment involves using scopolamine ointment tablets, 8 mg each, three times daily, five tablets each time after meals, gradually increasing by one tablet per dose until reaching ten tablets per dose. To allow the body to adapt to the dosage and avoid toxic side effects, the dose must be increased step by step. During the formal course of treatment, 10–20 tablets per dose are recommended, with a 14-day course. Afterward, the dose is reduced to 10 tablets per dose for another 14 days as the second course, then increased again to 30 tablets per dose, three times daily, for a total of 14 days as the third course. This drug also shows remarkable efficacy in treating refractory insomnia, psoriasis, unexplained lower limb edema, and chronic cholecystitis.
