Basic formula: 10 g of Ephedra, 10 g of Cinnamon twig, 10 g of White peony, 10 g of Atractylodes, 10 g of Safflower, 10 g of Ledebouriella, 10 g of Stephania tetrandra, 20 g of Clematis armandii, 15 g of Tripterygium wilfordii, 30 g of Polygonum multiflorum, 15 g of Beehive, 15 g of Smilax glabra, 10 g each of Aconitum carmichaelii and Aconitum kusnezoffii (decocted for 60 minutes first), 10 g of Danningxing, and 6 g of Licorice. This formula is no different from the traditional Wind-Cold-Dampness Three-Bi formula.
Mnemonic: Ephedra, cinnamon, vine, flower, white tiger, spirit, wind, defense, strength. Aconitum, grass, and Danningxing can be considered the “two strengths,” while Ledebouriella, Stephania, and Beehive are the “defenses.”
