Treatment of Liver Cancer—April 15, 1997

For small liver cancers, surgical resection followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy can achieve a 5-year survival rate of 50%, but early-stage patients are difficult to detect, and by the time doctors see them, they are already in the middle or late stages! The survival period for liver cancer is about six months, with similar survival rates for diffuse, nodular, massive, and mixed types. I once formulated a widely used clinical liver cancer formula, consisting of: Bupleurum, Citrus aurantium, Paeonia lactiflora, Licorice, Turtle shell, Turtle plastron, Oyster, Tortoiseshell, Citrus reticulata peel, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Astragalus, Yanhusuo, Melia toosendan, Roasted Frankincense, Myrrh, Hedyotis diffusa, Scutellaria barbata, Cyperus rotundus, Curcuma wenyujin, Laminaria japonica, Kelp, Angelica sinensis, Paeonia lactiflora, Raw Coix seed, Chicken gizzard lining, Polygonum cuspidatum, Paris polyphylla. Mnemonic: Four Four Eight Pair. This formula is generally effective in clinical practice. There is another formula: Astragalus, Gardenia jasminoides, Clematis armandii, Agrimonia pilosa, Hedyotis diffusa, Plantago major, Paeonia lactiflora, Raw Coix seed, Citrus reticulata peel, Citrus medica var. sarcodactylis, Buddha's hand, Turtle shell, which is an anti-cancer formula, where Raw Coix seed and Chicken gizzard lining are important anti-cancer drugs.
