Posterior Cranial Fossa Arachnoiditis, August 22, 1997

Reported 20 cases, all caused by systemic colds, infections, or local infections. Seven cases had symptoms of a cold; two had otitis media or dental caries; one had a lung infection; five had unknown causes. Clinical characteristics: intracranial pressure increased in 100% of cases; cerebellar ataxia in 70%; cranial nerve involvement in 50%; slight increase in the number of cells in the cerebrospinal fluid. Treatment focuses on conservative internal medicine for infectious diseases of the brain, with an 80% effectiveness rate and a 50% cure rate. (“Heilongjiang Medicine” Issue 5, 1977)
