The composition of Rehmannia: raw Rehmannia has high water-soluble sugar content and low trehalose content; cooked Rehmannia is just the opposite—high trehalose content and low water-soluble sugar content. Ziyun decreases sequentially in raw, dried, and cooked Rehmannia. Cooked Rehmannia has a stronger effect in promoting blood flow, while raw Rehmannia does not have this effect, indicating that the processing of Rehmannia is a very critical issue.
