Stroke-Induced Aphasia, January 2, 1998

Teacher Ling Gong was my middle school teacher, who suffered from cerebral infarction resulting in right-sided hemiplegia and aphasia; he could not speak at all. I treated him with Dihuang Yinzi combined with Guan II, Sanqi, and Shuizhi, administering a total of 30 doses, but there was only slight improvement, and his speech did not recover. After thinking it over, I decided to use Bai Fuzi, Banxia, Nanxing, Tianma, Quanxie, and Jiangcan, since only tuberous roots of plants in the Araceae family can effectively resolve wind-phlegm. After 20 doses, his speech finally returned.
