Clinical Application of Statins, December 3, 1999
Statins are a new type of lipid-lowering drug recently introduced. According to Issue 670 of the "China Pharmaceutical Forum," long-term use of atorvastatin was compared with percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA). The group taking statins had a cardiovascular risk incidence of only 13%, while the PTCA group had 21%, indicating that the statin group had a clear advantage in reducing risk compared to the surgical group. Three years ago, I suffered from coronary heart disease, with blood viscosity significantly higher than normal—TG 3.1 mmol/L. After taking Shuxiang, 10 mg once daily, along with vitamin C, 100 mg three times daily, the symptoms disappeared after half a year of treatment. Chest tightness and palpitations were markedly relieved, and lipid levels returned to normal, with blood viscosity also normalized.
