Current Status of Traditional Chinese Medicine-Induced Kidney Damage February 21, 2001

In 1993, Lgmmotane reported that Stephania tetrandra could lead to renal failure. Since then, numerous similar reports have emerged worldwide. Currently, traditional Chinese medicines that can cause kidney damage include Stephania tetrandra and Mu Fangji from the Menispermaceae family, as well as Aristolochia fangchi from the Aristolochiaceae family. In addition, there are also Asarum, Clematis armandii, and Smilax glabra. Compound formulations include Longdan Xiegan Wan, Daochi Wan, Bazheng San, and Fuke Fenqing Wan.
