Chronic Pancreatitis with Common Bile Duct Stenosis February 22, 2001

Chronic pancreatitis patients experience recurrent inflammatory episodes, leading to impaired drainage of the pancreatic duct and eventually resulting in common bile duct stenosis, with retrograde infection spreading to the liver. Additionally, chronic pancreatitis often causes metabolic disturbances in sugar metabolism, leading to fat accumulation in the liver and the development of fatty liver. On this basis, the liver begins to undergo fibrosis; if the common bile duct remains patent, the progression of liver fibrosis slows down, and recovery may even be reversed. The main function of the newly developed Gallbladder-Pancreas Granules is to soothe the liver and promote bile flow, essentially expanding the common bile duct and clearing the entire biliary system. Previously, this approach was used to treat a patient with cirrhosis named Bai Li; after the first use of Gallbladder-Pancreas Granules, her jaundice quickly subsided, her liver function recovered, fully demonstrating this principle. However, later, due to family gatherings during the New Year holiday, overcrowding in the room, and emotional instability, her condition relapsed, initially manifesting as worsening jaundice, fatigue, and impaired liver function. Despite the relapse, ultrasound examinations showed that her spleen had shrunk by 3 cm compared to before, and the diameter of her portal vein had decreased by 2 mm, indicating that the earlier liver-soothing treatment had achieved significant results. This recurrence was accidental; I treated her with Strong Liver Soup combined with Yinchenhao Soup and Xiao Chaihu Soup, and her condition improved day by day. Even after improvement, it is still advisable to continue using Gallbladder-Pancreas Granules for treatment.
