Q: When I walk quickly or climb two or three flights of stairs, I get out of breath, and sometimes my heart feels heavy and constricted, with cold hands and feet and sweaty feet. What could be causing this?
A: I don’t know your age, but first consider heart disease. For those over middle age, think of coronary heart disease; for those under middle age, consider rheumatic heart disease. Other possibilities include pulmonary heart disease, congenital heart disease, anemic heart disease, and uric acid-related heart disease.
