A: This is a common symptom resulting from the simultaneous presence of chronic pharyngitis and chronic rhinitis. Treatment should be initiated promptly; otherwise, it may lead to postnasal drip syndrome, upper airway cough syndrome, and cough variant asthma. Because treatment is relatively complex, simply prescribing one or two single-agent remedies won’t suffice.
