14. Yu Yan: 60-Year-Old Female with a Lump on the Top of Her Foot and Pain
Question: My mother is 60 years old and has a lump on the top of her foot. She’s had it before, and it usually disappears after massaging it. But now it’s grown back and hurts when pressed. What could this be?
Answer: It’s a tendon sheath cyst. If it’s asymptomatic, no treatment is necessary. However, if it hurts when pressed, it may indicate concurrent tenosynovitis. Pain relievers such as Fenbid can be taken.
