Q: There’s a spider nevus 2 cm below my left eye that has been there for six years (and has grown larger recently), and in the past few months, four more have appeared on my palms. Is this a sign of illness? What should I do?

A: Spider nevi are a manifestation of elevated estrogen levels. I’m not sure whether you’re male or female, but generally, when liver function is impaired, the liver fails to adequately metabolize estrogen, leading to the development of spider nevi.
