A 20-year-old patient was diagnosed with uremia in May and is now undergoing dialysis. Can traditional Chinese medicine be used for treatment?
Answer: Generally, dialysis is indicated when blood urea nitrogen exceeds 21 mmol/L and creatinine reaches over 700 mmol/L. Once these thresholds are surpassed, dialysis cannot be easily stopped. As the saying goes, “There’s no turning back on the dialysis path.” So far, neither traditional nor Western medicine has found a way to bring dialysis patients off the dialysis path and back onto a healthy road.
