Infant Diarrhea
Question: My baby is almost six months old and has been having watery diarrhea since yesterday afternoon. There was no bowel movement last night, but it happened again this morning. The doctor at the hospital prescribed smectite powder and Xingpi Yang’er granules, instructing us to feed the baby only breast milk. Why is this happening? The baby hasn’t eaten anything unusual these days—why is he/she having diarrhea?
Answer: Don’t give the smectite powder; it’s not an ideal choice. I recommend trying Qiwei Baizhu San and Shenling Baizhu San instead.
