Question: I have gallstones about 1 cm in size. Do I need surgery? If not, what medications can I take?
Answer: Stones measuring 1 cm can often be dissolved and expelled through traditional Chinese medicine. The gallbladder is crucial—don’t rush to remove it. After gallbladder removal, about half of patients experience digestive difficulties and may even develop post-cholecystectomy syndrome, leading to lifelong health issues. Of course, if the stones are large and impacted, that’s a different matter altogether.
