II. Acute Non-Lymphocytic Leukemia (ANLL)

M1: primitive cells are undifferentiated, with primitive cells accounting for ≥90%. M2: primitive cells are partially differentiated, with primitive cells accounting for ≥30% but <90%. M3: acute promyelocytic leukemia, where promyelocytes account for >30%. ① Granules are coarse (in the cytoplasm). ② Granules are fine. M4: granulocytic leukemia:

① Primaries and promyelocytes are predominant, with monocytes and neutrophils accounting for >20%. ② Monocytes are predominant, with primordial and promyelocytes accounting for >20%. ③ Both monocytes and granulocytic cells account for >30%. ④ Acidophilic granules are coarse and round, with darker staining, accounting for 1%–30%. M5: monocytic leukemia:

① Undifferentiated type, with monocytes accounting for >80%. ② Partially differentiated type, with monocytes accounting for >80%, and promyelocytes accounting for >30%. M6: red-white leukemia. M7: megakaryocytic leukemia.

Clinical Applications of Di Long, January 28, 1994

Traditionally used to dispel wind-phlegm, relieve acute spasms, regulate blood flow, and treat stroke. Some users have also found good therapeutic effects when applied topically for mumps and eczema. Li Jingci from Shaanxi used this herb in combination with “Tou Tou Ning” to treat 14 cases of trigeminal neuralgia; among them, 1 case was cured, 3 cases showed significant improvement, 9 cases were effective, and only 1 case remained unresponsive. The composition of Tou Tou Ning includes 30 g of Di Long, 30 g of Huang Qi, 30 g of Dang Gui, 15 g of Xin Xiang, and 30 g of Chuan Niu Xi—each ground into a fine powder, mixed with honey to form pills, and taken with warm water, with a 30-day course. This shows that this herb is effective in treating neuralgia.

Clinical Applications of Leeches, January 28, 1994

I have used this herb to treat hemangiomas, blood diseases, arteriosclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis. According to the latest edition of “New Handbook of Chinese Medicine,” this herb is particularly suitable for coronary heart disease, pulmonary heart disease, rheumatic heart disease, and ophthalmic conditions.
