2. Integrated Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment of Gastric Cancer

Traditional Chinese Medicine still believes that this disease originates from deficiency, advocating the principle of “treat the severe cases according to their nature, and the mild cases against it,” emphasizing the use of tonifying and consolidating methods to prolong life. This view, combined with surgical and chemotherapy treatments, represents the best current approach to treating gastric cancer. The preferred prescription is Xiang Sha Liu Jun Zi Tang with modifications (Aucklandia, Amomum, Codonopsis, Atractylodes, Poria, Pinellia, Licorice, Salvia miltiorrhiza); some patients with yin deficiency can be treated with Ye’s Yangwei Tang with modifications (Codonopsis, Ophiopogon, Polygonatum, Pollen, Dendrobium).

Next Section: Inheritance of Experience

For those experiencing pain, use Fu Fang Wu Mei Wan (Wu Mei, Yuanhu, Toona sinensis, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Paeonia lactiflora, Pinellia, Houpu) for treatment; if pain persists after taking the medication, further use Fu Fang Wu Yao San (Wu Yao, Semen Strychni, Curcuma, Ginger, Potassium Nitrate, Paeonia lactiflora, Licorice, etc.); alternatively, use San Leng, E Zhu, Wu Yu, Zhi Shi, Pu Huang Rou, and processed Ru Mu to activate blood circulation, remove blood stasis, reduce swelling, and relieve pain. If gastric cancer is not painful but causes bloating, add Xiao Dan Shen Yin to the main formula to regulate qi, expand the middle burner, and harmonize stomach function to reverse the flow of qi. If the previous treatment is effective, continue using the same formula for a longer period, as the therapeutic effect will become more pronounced.
