3. Treating the symptoms first is a necessary measure for treating malignant tumors

Although malignant tumors are fundamentally rooted in righteous qi deficiency, in some cases the presence of excess evil qi can become the dominant contradiction. Professor Pei believes that in such situations, treatment should follow the principle of “treat the symptoms first, then address the root cause.” Cancer patients often experience acute symptoms such as pain and fever, but addressing the symptoms while simultaneously reinforcing righteous qi is a necessary step in treating malignant tumors.

4. Combining traditional Chinese medicine for reinforcing righteous qi with Western medicine’s radiotherapy and chemotherapy embodies the philosophy of reinforcing righteous qi while dispelling evil qi

Professor Pei argues that although Western radiotherapy and chemotherapy cannot completely eradicate malignant tumors, they directly kill or suppress cancer cells, offering advantages that traditional Chinese medicine cannot match in tackling the root causes of cancer. The purpose of using traditional Chinese medicine to reinforce righteous qi is to reduce the side effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, thereby enhancing their effectiveness. Thus, combining traditional Chinese medicine for reinforcing righteous qi with Western radiotherapy and chemotherapy forms a complementary approach that is highly effective in treating malignant tumors in modern internal medicine. Typically, the dosage, efficacy, and side effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy are positively correlated. The failure of chemotherapy is often due to severe side effects that prevent patients from receiving the maximum dose. These side effects mainly manifest as bone marrow suppression, weakened immunity, or gastrointestinal reactions, which frequently lead to infections—common causes of death among cancer patients. While Western medicine can temporarily alleviate these problems through blood transfusions, recent advances in immune-enhancing agents have shown some promise in improving the body’s immune status. Experimental studies have demonstrated that traditional Chinese medicine, by strengthening the kidneys and spleen, improves the body’s hematopoietic system, immune system, autonomic nervous system, and endocrine system, thereby fundamentally enhancing the body’s overall response. Specifically, strengthening the kidneys focuses on improving the body’s specific immune system, hematopoietic system, and endocrine system, while strengthening the spleen focuses on improving the body’s non-specific immune system and autonomic nervous system.
