3.2 Significant Effects of Pei’s Shengxue Granules on Immune Organs in Tumor-Bearing Mice

The results regarding the effects of Pei’s Shengxue Granules on immune organs in tumor-bearing mice showed that the thymus and spleen volumes in the tumor model group were reduced, with decreased weights; some thymuses had indistinct lobes and appeared grayish-white, while the spleens turned pale red. In contrast, the appearance of the thymus and spleen in the Pei’s Shengxue Granules dose groups was not significantly different from that of the normal group. The thymus index in the large-, medium-, and small-dose Pei’s Shengxue Granules groups was higher than that of the model group: the large- and medium-dose groups had thymus indices of 18.1 mg/10 g and 18.9 mg/10 g, respectively, representing increases of 31.2% and 36.9% compared with the model group (p<0.05). Similarly, the spleen index in all Pei’s Shengxue Granules dose groups was higher than that of the model group, with the medium-dose group showing a spleen index of 76.1 mg/10 g, a 19.3% increase over the model group (p<0.05). See Table 1 and Figure 1.
