3.1 Effects of Pei's Shengxue Granules on Tumors in Tumor-Bearing Mice
3.1.1 Overall Situation
General observation shows that in the tumor model group, starting from the third day, the fur becomes disheveled, a tumor can be vaguely seen under the skin of the right anterior axilla, food and water intake decrease compared with before, activity slows down, mice huddle together, lie down lazily, become sleepy, and their fur loses luster and becomes rough. Between the fifth and seventh days after modeling, the tumor grows rapidly, with an uneven surface and multiple nodules visible, and the boundaries are unclear. By the eighth to tenth days, all mice in the group develop cachexia, and some even develop ascites. Compared with the model group, mice in the Pei's Shengxue Granules groups of different doses have brighter fur and better spirits and diet. On the seventh day of the experiment, one mouse in the Zhenqi group died due to drug administration entering the lungs.
3.1.2 Effects of Pei's Shengxue Granules on Tumor Weight and Tumor Inhibition Rate in Tumor-Bearing Mice
Dissection of the experimental mice revealed that the tumors grew more slowly in the Pei's Shengxue Granules groups than in the model group. The average tumor weights in the high-, medium-, and low-dose Pei's Shengxue Granules groups were all lower than those in the model group, at 1.708 ± 0.396 g, 1.623 ± 0.365 g, and 1.808 ± 0.462 g, respectively, all significantly lower than the model group (p < 0.05). The tumor inhibition rates were 32.1%, 35.5%, and 28.1%, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference between the various Pei's Shengxue Granules dose groups and the Zhenqi group (p > 0.05). See Table 1 and Figure 1.
