3.2 Effects of Pei's Shengxue Granules on Immune Organs—Thymus and Spleen—in Tumor-Bearing Mice
The results show that in the tumor model group, the thymus and spleen of the mice shrink in size and weight, with some thymuses showing unclear lobes and a grayish-white appearance, and the spleens becoming paler red. In the Pei's Shengxue Granules groups of different doses, the thymus indices (TI) of the mice are all higher than those in the model group, with the medium- and high-dose groups having TI values of 38.7 ± 9.8 mg/10 g and 36.5 ± 9.2 mg/10 g, respectively, representing increases of 37.2% and 29.2% compared with the model group, both statistically significant (P < 0.05). Compared with the normal group, the TI of the model group mice is significantly lower (P < 0.05). In the Pei's Shengxue Granules groups of different doses, the spleen indices (SI) are all higher than those in the model group, with the medium-dose group having SI of 70.5 ± 19.0 mg/10 g, an increase of 29.9% compared with the model group, also statistically significant (P < 0.05). Compared with the normal group, the SI of the model group mice is significantly lower (P < 0.05). There is no statistically significant difference between the Pei's Shengxue Granules groups and the Zhenqi group (P > 0.05). See Table 2, Figure 2, and Figure 3.
