1. Formula to Stop Diabetes (from “Sea Prescription” by Cui Yuanliang)
Take one liang of Ophiopogon japonicus and three qian of Coptis. Boil in water and take.
Ophiopogon japonicus paired with Coptis—“Pu Ji Fang” uses it to treat “sores in the throat, virtual heat attacking the spleen and lungs,” and also recommends drinking the decoction of Ophiopogon japonicus. “Ben Shi Fang” uses one liang of Ophiopogon japonicus (core removed) and five qian of Coptis, grinds them finely, mixes with honey to make pills the size of a paulownia seed, takes 20–30 pills with warm water two to three times a day, calling the formula “Menmai Pills.”
