5. Psoriasis
Wu, male, 40 years old. He repeatedly experiences severe itching on his right upper limb and head and neck. Physical examination: several red papules the size of soybeans on the extensor side of the right upper limb and the neck, most of which are covered with silvery-white scales, with slight redness at the base of the scales and a few pinpoint bleeding spots at the base. Stool is dry, and he suffers from irritability and insomnia. Tongue red with yellow coating, pulse taut and rapid. Western medical diagnosis: psoriasis. Teacher Pei believes it is caused by heat toxin, recommending clearing heat, purging fire, and detoxifying. Prescription: mountain bean root 15 g, grass river car 15 g, white thistle 30 g, white fungus skin 20 g, earth poria 12 g, honeysuckle vine 15 g, licorice 6 g, indigofera 15 g, weilingxian 12 g, xuan shen 10 g, rhubarb 6 g, hemp seed 10 g, decocted in water and taken once daily. After taking the above prescription for ten doses, his stool became less dry, irritability decreased, and the color of the papules on the right upper limb and head and neck faded somewhat. The prescription was adjusted by removing rhubarb and hemp seed, adding forsythia 15 g and bigleaf hydrangea 15 g, and after more than twenty doses, all symptoms were significantly alleviated.
Note: Psoriasis is a difficult-to-treat disease. In recent years, both traditional Chinese and Western medicine have made considerable efforts to conquer psoriasis, but the therapeutic effects have been unsatisfactory. Teacher Pei's treatment of this disease starts from the perspective of heat toxin, achieving good results.
