1. Liver Yang Excess

Symptoms include headache and dizziness, irritability, chest tightness, a red tongue with thin yellow coating, and a string-like pulse. Patients typically present with hypertension, and treatment focuses on calming the liver and subduing yang, with the prescription being Zhen Gan Xi Feng Tang with added bitter ding tea and dried lotus leaves. If accompanied by chest tightness and stasis spots on the tongue, along with high blood viscosity, add chibai shao, chuanqiong, honghua, and danshen to the formula; if accompanied by facial flushing and bitter taste in the mouth, along with oral ulcers, add huanglian, zhi zi, huashi, and mutong to the formula; if accompanied by weakness in the lower limbs and unsteady gait, modify the prescription to include Dihuang Yin with added ingredients; if accompanied by five-center heat and soreness in the waist and knees, combine it with Ni Ju Dihuang Tang; for elderly patients with hand and foot spasms and numbness in the limbs, add biejia, maidong, and ejiao to the formula.
