Shengmai Powder

Ginseng 3 qian, ophiopogon 3 qian, schisandra 7 grains.

Ginseng generates lung fluids, ophiopogon clears lung fire, schisandra gathers lung qi, and together they form a combination of sour and sweet flavors to benefit yin (1), clearing and nourishing the lung metal, serving as a precursor to the “Clear Dryness and Save the Lungs” soup.

[Note] (1) Sour-sweet yin-benefiting: refers to the therapeutic method of using sour and sweet medicines together to benefit yin.

[Comment] This formula originates from “Qianjin Fang.” It can both nourish yin and benefit qi, making it an important formula for treating lung issues related to blood.
