Baoyuan Soup

Ginseng 3 qian, astragalus 3 qian, black dates 3 qian, honey-fried licorice 2 qian, ginger 3 slices.

Herbs and black dates greatly nourish the middle jiao, followed by ginger to warm it, astragalus to boost it, and ginseng to nourish it. Overall, this formula ensures that the earth qi flows harmoniously, generating lung metal, with lung yang protecting it, shadows disappearing, and all symptoms of cold, weakness, and palpitations being eliminated. This is a method of warming and nourishing lung yang, paired with the previous method of nourishing lung yin, forming a pair of cold and hot approaches.

[Comment] This formula originates from “Lanshi Mizang.” It cultivates earth to generate fluids, warms and nourishes lung yang, serving as a foundational formula for treating all symptoms of cold, weakness, and palpitations.
