High-dose cisplatin combined with sodium thiosulfate for pleural effusion treatment on September 18, 2002
Cisplatin (DDP) 100 mg added to 40 mL of 0.9% sodium chloride solution injected into the affected pleural cavity, once daily, concurrently infusing 12 g of sodium thiosulfate (STS). STS should be added to 5% glucose for intravenous drip, once weekly, four sessions constituting one course. Reportedly: CR + PR = 88%, CR = 68%. Among these cases, 15 were lung cancer with pleural effusion, 4 were breast cancer after radical mastectomy with pleural effusion, 2 were malignant mesothelioma with pleural effusion, and 2 were osteosarcoma with pleural effusion, including 9 cases with massive pleural effusion.
