In the autumn of the Year of the Horse, Dr. Liu Yongfeng from Qilihe Hospital brought a young patient named Mao Guangrun, a 15-year-old boy suffering from frequent ventricular premature contractions. Despite seeking treatment from many sources, there was no improvement. Upon examination, I found a deep, wiry pulse with intermittent beats, a pale complexion, slightly labored breathing, and a thick, pale tongue coating. I prescribed Dang Shen 12g, Gui Zhi 9g, A Jiao 9g, Mai Dong 20g, Sheng Di Huang 20g, Huo Ma Ren 15g, Gan Jiang 6g, Da Zao 10g, Zhi Gan Cao 6g, Ku Shen 30g, Dan Shen 30g, Tan Xiang 6g, Yan Hu Suo 20g, Fu Ling 12g, Bai Zhu 9g, Sha Ren 6g, Sheng Long Gu and Sheng Mu Li each 12g, Yu Jin 9g, Chi Shao 9g. The prescription combined Zhi Gan Cao Tang with Ling Gui Shu Gan Tang, along with Dan Shen, Tan Xiang, Sha Ren, Chi Shao, Yan Hu Suo, Ku Shen, Yu Jin, Sheng Long Gu, and Sheng Mu Li. After taking more than ten doses, the patient's spirits improved, his complexion turned rosy, his appetite increased, his pulse no longer showed intermittent beats, and auscultation revealed a regular heartbeat with no signs of premature contractions.
