In 1978, I treated a chronic pharyngitis patient at Lan Shi Factory. The patient had no gastrointestinal problems and excellent digestion. Using the nourishing yin and clearing lung soup combined with 60g of summer枯草, the patient was cured. In 1979, I treated many cases of pharyngitis using this formula, but the effect was not good. Most cases were due to stomach cold, unable to tolerate the extreme cold of summer枯草, leading to vomiting and failure to cure the pharyngitis, so patients stopped taking the medicine on their own. Later, when using this formula again, I reduced the dosage of summer枯草 to 15g, and the effect became remarkable once more.
